Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0352612A1] Printing presses operating in the flat-bed printing process having a printing plate (13) which represents an image to be printed in the form of water-rejecting and water-absorbing regions. In order to be able to undertake a redesign of the image to be printed directly in the printing press, it is proposed that a printing plate be made of an electrically conducting base, for example nickel, which is coated in some areas with a polymer by electrolytic controls. The actuation is effected by an electrochemical process, the one electrode of the plate cylinder (14) and the counter electrode (22) being a roller mounted rotatably in an electrolyte container (20). One of the two electrodes (21) is of matrix-type construction and is actuated by a customary image pattern. The ink-absorbing regions are either the non-coated places of the base or the polymer-coated regions depending on the design. <IMAGE>
