Abstract (en)
A method for producing information is described which specifies the type of print head (18) present in a printer, which print head contains at least one printing element (86, 88, 90). The actuator of the printing element (86, 88, 90) has an electric resistance which is established via an evaluation circuit. This resistance is assigned to one of several resistance regions which correspond to different types of print head. The evaluation circuit produces as information a type signal (40a, 40b, 40c) dependent on the effected assignment. The type signal (40a, 40b, 40c) is made available to a downstream control which can supply different types of print heads (17, 18) with the fitting control signals in each case. The invention can be applied to virtually all types of print heads, the print elements of which are actuated via electrical or electromechanical actuators and which consequently have an electric resistance. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Verfahren zum Erzeugen einer Information beschrieben, das die Art eines in einem Drucker vorhandenen Druckkopfes (18) angibt, der mindestens ein Druckelement (86, 88, 90) enthält. Das Stellglied des Druckelements (86, 88, 90) hat einen elektrischen Widerstand, der über eine Auswertungsschaltung festgestellt wird. Dieser Widerstand wird einem von mehreren Widerstandsbereichen zugeordnet, die unterschiedlichen Druckkopfarten entsprechen. Die Auswertungsschaltung erzeugt als Information ein Typsignal (40a, 40b, 40c) abhängig von der erfolgten Zuordnung. Das Typsignal (40a, 40b, 40c) wird einer nachgeordneten Steuerung zur Verfügung gestellt, die verschiedene Arten von Druckköpfen (17, 18) mit den jeweils passenden Steuersignalen versorgen kann. Die Erfindung kann auf praktisch alle Arten von Druckköpfen angewandt werden, deren Druckelemente über elektrische oder elektromechanische Stellglieder betätigt werden und demzufolge einen elektrischen Widerstand haben.
