Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0353534A1] The invention relates to a closing machine for swing-stopper bottles, preferably in combination with a labelling machine. The machine comprises various turntables 4, 7, 11, 18 and star wheels 6, 10, 13 which are linked together for drive purposes and form a line. In the first turntable 4, the swing-stopper bottles are aligned relative to their position of rotation. This position of rotation is retained during further transportation through all subsequent star wheels 6, 10, 13 and turntables 7, 11. In the second turntable 7 the closure stopper of the swing-stopper closures which consist of closure stopper and closure shackle, is placed on the bottle. In the third turntable 11 the swing-stopper closure is tightened. The optional labelling takes place in the subsequent last turntable 18, after closing. After each treatment of the bottles in the individual turntables 4, 7, 11, (alignment, positioning of the closing stopper, tightening of the swing-stopper closures) a check is conducted to determine whether the bottle has been correctly processed or not. Depending on the result of this check, bottles found not to have been properly processed are rejected by the star wheel 6, 10, 13, while bottles found to have been properly processed are passed onto the next turntable 7, 11, 18, their rotational position being retained. In this manner a high throughput can be achieved with minimal wear on the functional elements of the machine, since the individual treatments take place separately, only those bottles which are found to have been properly processed receiving further processing. <IMAGE>
