Abstract (en)
[origin: JPH02191809A] PURPOSE: To reduce manufacture cost by pre-manufacturing covering materials corresponding to the actual condition inside an exhaust silencer, assembling the shaped covering materials with the assembly together into an opened exhaust silencer under compression at the assembling spot of the silencer. CONSTITUTION: Mineral wool layers which are impregnated with a suitable resin, for example, pretreated with synthetic resins, are pre-manufactured as covering materials 3a to 3d having the shaped of a punch plate. These covering materials are supplied to the silencer assembly spot instead of traditional shape stabilized materials and these layers are assembled into the silencer body. In this case, while closing the semi-casing 1a, 1b of the silencer divided in the boundary, the jointed semi-bodies form pipe joints 4, 5 in both sides, they fix the assembly 2 at desired position inside the casing 1. While upper and lower semi-bodies 1a, 1b are pressed against each other, the mineral wool filler materials 3 are pressed to form a desired shape, the covering materials 3a to 3d are contact each other at plane side edges 19, so two sides of the pipe 7 are filled with a plenty of mineral wool at high density.
