[origin: EP0354623A1] A hydrocarbonaceous feedstock is hydrocracked by contacting the feedstock (11) in a first reaction stage (1) at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of hydrogen (12) with a first hydrocracking catalyst to obtain a first effluent (14), separating from the first effluent a gaseous phase (15) and a liquid phase (16) at substantially the same temperature and pressure as prevailing in the first reaction stage, contacting the liquid phase of the first effluent in a second reaction stage (2) at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of hydrogen (18) with a second hydrocracking catalyst to obtain a second effluent (20) and obtaining at least one desired product by fractionation (4) of the combined gaseous phase and the second effluent.
