The ignition gas mixture emerging from a flame cutter (10) is adjusted by means of separate control or regulating device (7), independently of the heating flame gases necessary for the flame cutting. In this arrangement, the ignition time can be reduced and reliable ignition of the ignition gas mixture guaranteed if the ignition gas mixture flows at an increased rate or at an increased pressure into the vicinity of the ignition point, and is adjusted only at that point by means of a regulating or control element (29, 30) to the necessary rate or to the necessary pressure. <IMAGE>

Das aus einem Schneidbrenner (10) austretende Zündgasgemisch wird mittels einer separaten Steuer- oder Regelvorrichtung (7) unabhängig von den für das Brennschneiden erforderlichen Heizflammengasen eingestellt. Dabei kann die Zündzeit verringert und eine sichere Zündung des Zündgasgemisches gewährleistet werden, wenn das Zündgasgemisch in erhöhter Menge oder mit erhöhtem Druck bis in die Nähe der Zündstelle strömt und erst an dieser Stelle mittels eines Steuer- oder Regelelementes (29, 30) auf die benötigte Menge bzw. den benotigten Druck eingestellt wird.
