[origin: US4955667A] Seating in the form of a chair or similar piece of furniture. The legs are connected by a frame. The frame is a torsionally rigid box with a top and bottom connected and prevented from shifting in relation to each other by lateral stretchers. In addition to connecting the legs, the frame constitutes a support for a seat. The lateral stretchers of the frame in one practical embodiment are arcs of a circle with their ends merging into corners. The legs are rigidly secured to the frame in the vicinity of the corners.

Bei einem Sitzmöbel sind die Beine (11, 12) mittels eines zwischen letzteren angeordneten Kastenrahmens (14) miteinander verbunden. Der Kastenrahmen (14) ist als verwindungssteifes Hohlprofil ausgebildet und besitzt je eine mit seitlichen Rahmenteilen (17) schubfest verbundene, insbesondere verleimte obere und untere Deckplatte (18, 19). Neben seiner Funktion als Verbindungselement für die Beine (11, 12) bildet der Kastenrahmen (14) ein Auflager für eine Sitzfläche. Bei einer zweckmäßigen Ausführungsform bestehen die seitlichen Rahmenteile (17) des Kastenrahmens (14) aus mit ihren Enden (21) unter Ausbildung von Ecken (20) aneinandergefügten Kreisbogenstücken als Zargen (17) und im Bereich dieser Ecken (20) sind die Beine (11, 12) des Sitzmöbels fest an den Kastenrahmen (14) angeschlossen.
