To increase the working accuracy of a machine tool, the temperature prevailing at at least two predetermined points or areas of one or more construction parts of the machine tool is measured continuously or at time intervals. If these actual temperatures deviate from one another by a predeterminable amount, the temperature of at least one area is influenced for adapting the actual temperatures. A device for automatically producing a certain temperature distribution at areas to be influenced contains a controller (41) functionally connected to temperature-measuring instruments and switching or control elements (S1 to S6) for heat-supply or heat-dissipation means (W1 to W6). <IMAGE>

Zur Erhöhung der Arbeitsgenauigkeit einer Werkzeugmaschine wird an wenigstens zwei vorgegebenen Stellen oder Bereichen eines oder mehrerer Bauteile der Werkzeugmaschine die dort herrschende Temperatur kontinuierlich oder in zeitlichen Abständen gemessen. Wenn diese Ist-Temperaturen um ein vorgebbares Maß voneinander abweichen, wird eine thermische Beeinflussung wenigstens eines Bereiches im Sinne der Angleichung der Ist-Temperaturen vorgenommen. Eine Vorrichtung zur selbsttätigen Herstellung einer bestimmten Temperaturverteilung an zu beeinflussenden Bereichen enthält einen funktionsmäßig mit Temperaturmeßgeräten und Schalt- oder Steuerelementen (S1 bis S6) für Wärmezuführungs- bzw. -Abführungs-Einrichtungen (W1 bis W6) verbundenen Regler (41).
