Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0356654A1] 1. The supply of high-performance packaging machines (21) with packaging material is a particular problem. This is especially true for blanks (20) which are produced outside the zone of the packaging machine (21), particularly in a paper mill, and which are delivered as blank stacks (22). <??>2. For an efficient supply of stacked blanks (20) to a packaging machine (21) containers which are open at the top, namely cassettes (26) which possess a plurality of blank stacks (22) side by side, are employed. The cassettes (26) are lowered by a suitable automatic conveyor on to a cassette conveyor (31) on the machine side which is arranged on the back of the packaging machine (21) and serves at the same time as a store for a relatively large number of filled cassettes (26). In the region of an emptying station (36), the blank stacks (22) are successively removed from the cassettes (26) and passed, by an upward movement and subsequent transverse movement, to one or more blank magazines (23, 24) of the packaging machine (21). <??>3. The transfer of the blank stacks (22) to a blank magazine (23, 24) takes place in a special manner, namely by means of a stack pocket (71) which moves into the blank magazine (23, 24) and can be tilted to transfer the blank stack (22). <IMAGE>
