Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0356950A2] Process for the anti-felting treatment of textiles made of wool or containing wool together with other fibres in a blend, wherein (a) the textile materials are chlorinated in an aqueous liquor to such an extent that the active chlorine uptake is from 0.2 to 2.0% by weight, (b) the chlorinated textile materials are then treated directly with a liquor which contains at least one peroxy compound in solution and optionally (c) 0.5 to 5% by weight, based on the textile materials, of a known polymer for an anti-felting finish is applied. The treatment of wool according to the invention causes virtually no yellowing of the textile material.
