Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0357525A1] This step-ladder is of the type in which the uprights (2) supporting the treads (4) consist of tubular profiles with any transverse section and in which the treads (4) are made from a profile in aluminium or another similar material, extruded or as a metal sheet folded approximately into the shape of an inverted U whose web (4c) has, at each end, a notch (5) capable of being engaged on the corresponding upright (2) and whose free edges of the flanges (4a,4b) are parallel to one another, have, relative to their web (4c), the same slope (A) as the uprights (2) relative to the horizontal when the step-ladder is in a position of use, and are at a distance from one another which is equal to that of the notch or to that separating the outer faces of the front (2a) and rear (2b) walls of the upright (2) in question so as to be able to be applied on the abovementioned faces of the upright (2) on which the notch (5) is engaged, means being provided for mechanically connecting the ends of the free edges of the flanges (4a, 4b) applied against them to the upright (2). The means for fastening each end of a tread (4) to the corresponding upright (2) consist of a single connection member (6) passing right through the two ends of the free edges of the flanges (4a, 4b) of the tread (4) in question and the two opposite wall portions (2a, 2b) of this upright (2). <IMAGE>
