[origin: WO8810317A1] The disclosure relates to a method of treating hide for leather manufacture, the method comprising the steps of treating softened hide with lime, deliming the hide by treatment in an aqueous treatment bath under agitation and with the addition of a lime-dissolving substance, bating, pickling and tanning. In the method according to the present invention, use is made of a gas containing carbon dioxide as the lime-dissolving substance. The gas is added to the treatment bath continuously or at intervals in that it is dissolved in the treatment bath substantially throughout the entire deliming process. A further characterizing feature of the present invention is that it is possible to carry out the bating process in the treatment bath for deliming without removing ions dissolved therein.

Un procédé de traitement de peaux lors de la fabrication de cuir consiste à traiter les peaux ramollies avec de la chaux, à déchauler les peaux par traitement dans un bain de traitement aqueux avec brassage et avec addition d'une substance de dissolution de la chaux, puis à effectuer les opérations de chipage, de mise en jusée et de tannage. Dans le procédé de la présente invention, on utilise un gaz contenant du bioxyde de carbone comme substance de dissolution de la chaux. Le gaz est ajouté au bain de traitement en continu ou à intervalles, ce qui permet sa dissolution dans le bain de traitement pendant toute la durée du processus de déchaulage. La présente invention se caractérise aussi par le fait qu'elle permet d'effectuer l'opération de chipage des peaux dans le bain de traitement pour le déchaulage sans retirer les ions qui y sont dissous.
