Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0357893A2] The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring traffic flow on roads. With the invention it is possible, by using existing pillars, such as emergency telephone pillars, traffic lights, lighting poles, beacons, road signs inter alia, to install components with sensors and signal processing and to use them at a central processing or command station with a computer for counting traffic and issuing warnings to traffic and for other measures. The invention indicates a reliable and economical solution which operates in a contactless fashion and manages without a special device in a vehicle in the traffic. In addition roads no longer need to be torn up and filled in again for performing repairs or laying new induction loops. <IMAGE>
