Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0358888A1] In a sail boat based on the hydrofoil principle, consisting essentially of a ship's hull and of a sail, with a fore and aft keel, the lower ends of which are each equipped with a lift control fin, there being arranged on each side of the ship's hull an extension arm, the end of which has a downwardly projecting fin stock carrying a lift control fin, the lift control fins constituting a four-point hydrofoil system for lift generation and for control and stabilisation, according to the invention the extension arms 6, 6' are designed as narrow-surface, negatively swept fin-like supports of predetermined elasticity, at the respective ends of which is arranged a floating body 12, 12', the fin stocks acting as lateral control fins 11, 11'. <??>It is especially advantageous, at the same time, that a combined tandem keel/rudder system with the smallest possible high-speed control surfaces is used, the boat having an improved stability behaviour. <IMAGE>
