Pressing rollers 8a, 8b may also be adjustable relative to one another. The rollers and grids may have individual or common adjustment means. Bei einer Öffnungsvorrichtung zum Öffnen von gepreßten Faserballen, z. B. Baumwoll- und Zellwollballen u. dgl., sind Öffnerscheiben oder Nadeln enthaltende schnellaufende Öffnerwalzen vorgesehen, die mit einem Rost zusammengreifen, dessen Roststäbe (3,4) zwischen den Öffnerscheiben, z. B. Zahnscheiben bzw. Nadeln liegen, wobei die fahrbare Öffnungsvorrichtung und die ortsfesten Faserballen aneinander vorbeistreichen und die Zähne der Öffnerscheiben bzw. Nadeln von oben in die Faserballen greifen. Um eine höhere Produktion zu ermöglichen und eine gleichmäßigere Abnahme zu erreichen, sind Einstellmittel (11,20) für die vertikale Verlagerung der Öffnerwalze (5,6) in bezug aufeinander vorgesehen und stehen beim Vorlauf (B) und beim Rücklauf (A) während der Abtragung die Öffnerscheiben (5,6) jeweils unterschied tief in Eingriff mit dem Faserballen.
