Abstract (en)

A fire-resistant hydraulic fluid is disclosed which has an improved response to heat and flame under controlled conditions and a high degree of flame propagation resistance. The safety hydraulic fluids of the instant invention are made of at least a polyalkylene glycol, an ester and an antioxidant. Depending on the specific use, the inventive hydraulic fluid may further contain other additives such as e.g. anti-rust agents, anti-wear agents and viscosity index improvers. A process for making the novel safety hydraulic fluid is also disclosed.
