A slatted bed base with a frame (1) of a form which follows the perimeter of the frame, creating, on both opposite sides (1A), on the inside, the seats for the ends of slats forming the bearing surface of a mattress, and comprising at least one brace (T) engaged in both opposite frame sides (1A) and called upon to work in traction in order to thus prevent both said opposite sides (1A) from moving apart; the said brace (T) being disposed underneath a slat (3) and along the latter. <IMAGE>
