[origin: EP0359988A2] To seal off the seams of cover channels, in particular of chemical product lines, which are composed of individual, shell-shaped channel sections abutting in a longitudinal direction and consisting of sheet- metal walls filled with insulating material, provision is made according to the invention, to prevent entry of moisture and exchange of air while enabling relative movements between individual channel sections, for each seam (9) to be designed so as to open outwards in a wedge shape, for the outer sheet (5) of each channel section (4), in the area adjoining the seam (9), to have a bead (11) projecting outwards, and for at least the area of the seam (9) and of the beads (11) adjoining on either side to be covered under preloading by an approximately U-shaped steel band (13) between which and the outer channel wall (5) an elastic sealing strip (12) is clamped. <IMAGE>
