[origin: EP0360059A1] Water-saving apparatus - washing at extremely low liquor fill levels. To shorten the fabric wetting times, the rotating drum itself should additionally convey rinse liquor into the interior of the drum. In existing washing machines, the drum ribs are perforated and configured as scooping vessels. However, to this end the washing drum must dip into the rinse liquor. In the new drum washing machine, the liquor level can be lowered to a level below the drum. This reduces water consumption even further; yet the wetting is still relatively rapid. In the apparatus according to the present invention, the drum (2) possesses a scooping ring (11) of a relatively large diameter with radially disposed scooping compartments (12). These dip into the liquor level (16, 17) underneath the drum (2) and with the aid of laterally disposed scooping compartment feed openings (15) and drum inlet openings (13) convey the washing liquor on to the textile goods by virtue of the rotation of the drum (2). The new drum washing machine is suitable in particular for domestic use. <IMAGE>
