Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0360145A2] In a method for sealing off existing waste sites or polluted areas, pipes which are approximately parallel to one another are installed under the waste site or contaminated area and a blade is pulled forward between every two pipes. Adjacently situated, sealing plastic sheets which are sealed by joining along their edges are pulled in between the layers of soil separated by the blade. To make it possible to check that the sealing sheets have been correctly drawn in and the joining of the sheets is leaktight, the blade is pulled forward in each case by approximately a sealing sheet width and the sealing sheet is pulled in through a gap in the blade. An edge of the last sealing sheet pulled in is joined to the free edge of the previous sealing sheet in the gap and a mineral sealing compound is introduced at least on one side of the sealing sheet while the blade is being pulled forward.
