[origin: US4871889A] An assembly adapted to commutate arcs from between the main contacts of a circuit breaker to an arcing contact such that a single arc at the arcing contact can be extinguished and dispersed within an arc chute. The assembly is adapted to be pivotally attached to the ends of the main contact carrying arms and includes arc channeling members joined to form a contact surface. An arcing contact can be fixed to the contact surface such that the arcs from the main contacts are channelled into one arc at the arcing contact.

Ein Niederspannungs-Leistungsschalter weist eine Kontaktanordnung mit schwenkbaren Hauptkontakthebeln (14) und eine relativ zu diesen schwenkbare Abbrennkontaktanordnung (22) auf. Die Abbrennkontaktanordnung (22) umfaßt Abbrennkontakt-Teilhebel (26) die zwischen die Hauptkontakthebel (14) eingreifen und gelenkig mit diesen verbunden sind. Ausgehend von dem hierdurch gegebenen Abstand sind die Abbrennkontakt-Teilhebel (26) an ihren vorderen Enden zur Bildung einer Auflagefläche für ein Abbrennkontaktstück (36) zusammengeführt und durch einen Niet (29) verbunden. Beim Abschalten werden die Abbrennkontaktstücke (36, 40) gegenüber den Hauptkontaktstücken (10, 12) verzögert geöffnet.
