[origin: WO8900757A1] An electrical wire comprises an elongate electrical conductor, an inorganic arc-control layer surrounding the conductor, an insulating layer which surrounds the arc-control layer and comprises an aromatic polymer, and a secondary tracking control layer surrounding the insulating layer, the secondary tracking control layer having a comparative tracking index of at least 300V. The wire exhibits good electrical and mechanical properties characteristic of highly aromatic polymers together with good resistance to dry arcing and wet tracking.
