[origin: EP0362134A2] Leather treating agent containing (a) an optionally sulphated product of the reaction of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having 6 to 24 C atoms, a polyol having 2 to 18 C atoms and an aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof or of the reaction of an optionally alkoxylated fatty alcohol having 12 to 24 C atoms and a dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, (b) a synthetic aromatic tanning agent or a non-condensed precursor thereof or an alkali metal or ammonium salt thereof, and, if desired, (c) a water-soluble chromium, aluminium, iron or zirconium salt, or mixtures thereof, and (d) a conditioning agent, can be used to produce soft leathers.
