Abstract (en)

[origin: JPH02130390A] PURPOSE: To solidify any molten metal that breaks through a wearable brick part at a fixed brick part before reaching a gas coupling pipe by employing a material having higher thermal conductivity at the fixed part as compared with a wearable part and extending the flow passage to the fixed part. CONSTITUTION: A gas washing brick 1 has a wearable part 2 and a fixed part 3. The wearable part 2 contains high thermal conductivity particles in addition to a refractory material and a large number of gas flow passages 4 extending not only to the wearable part 2 but into the fixed part 3. These gas passages 4 open to a gas distribution space 5 in the part 3. When the part 2 wears a molten metal intrudes into the part 2 along a line (a) and reaches the part 3. Since the part 3 has high thermal conductivity, heat is robbed very quickly from the molten metal which is thereby solidified and prevented from reaching the gas distribution space 5 and a cover part 6.
