Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0362736A2] The invention relates to a probe for measuring the oxygen potential, in particular for determining the carbon transfer properties of a furnace atmosphere containing proportions of the gases H2, CO and CH4, which probe contains a solid-state electrolyte which conducts oxygen ions and which has a contact electrode in the furnace atmosphere and a contact electrode in a reference means having known oxygen potential. In order to improve the measurement accuracy, it is proposed that there is disposed between the contact electrode (6) in the furnace atmosphere and the measuring electrolyte (1) a compensating electrolyte (8, 12) which conducts oxygen ions in the form of a separate solid body which is in contact with the measuring electrode (1), on the one hand, and the contact electrode (6), on the other hand, and which is so designed that it takes up oxygen ions from the surrounding furnace atmosphere to the extent it is removed from the measuring electrolyte (1) by an electrode reaction. <IMAGE>
