[origin: EP0363708A2] In a heating apparatus (1) for producing heated liquid and/or steam, a main container (2) contains both a liquid reservoir (3) and a heating-up chamber (10) which is considerably smaller than the latter in volumetric capacity and separated but communicating with the liquid reservoir (3) for refilling, and which is associated directly with the heating means (6) of the heating apparatus (1). Medium removed from the heating-up chamber (10) via a use outlet (11) is immediately and automatically replenished from the liquid reservoir (3), it being possible, in the case of steam production and the pressure-sealed construction of the main container (2), for the steam pressure also to be used for conveying liquid, for example from the liquid reservoir (3), via a rising pipe and an associated use outlet (12), so that either steam or warm liquid can be removed from the heating apparatus (1). As a result of the small volume of the heating-up chamber (10), whose cross-sectional extension transversely to the heated container wall (7) is substantially smaller than parallel to this container wall (7), very short heating-up times result. <IMAGE>
