A drawing device having a plate-shaped drawing base in the form of a drawing board (1) and a straightedge element in the form of a drawing rail (10) has a length-measuring device which has a sensing device (20), mounted on the drawing rail and having two magnetic-field sensors, and also a strip (7) which is provided on the drawing board (1), is made of a material alternately magnetised positively and negatively in the longitudinal direction and is adjacent to the sensing device (20). The two magnetic-field sensors of the sensing device (20) lie side-by-side in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the strip (7) and at the same distance from the bearing plane of the drawing rail (10). Eine Zeicheneinrichtung mit einer plattenförmigen Zeichenunterlage in Form einer Zeichenplatte (1) und einem Linealelement in Form einer Zeichenschiene (10) hat eine Längenmeßeinrichtung, die eine an der Zeichenschiene gehalterte Abtasteinrichtung (20) mit zwei Magnetfeldsensoren sowie einen an der Zeichenplatte (1) vorgesehenen Streifen (7) aus in Längsrichtung abwechselnd positiv und negativ magnetisiertem Material aufweist, der benachbart zur Abtasteinrichtung (20) liegt. Die beiden Magnetfeldsensoren der Abtasteinrichtung (20) liegen in Richtung der Längserstreckung des Streifens (7) nebeneinander und in gleichem Abstand von der Auflageebene der Zeichenschiene (10). Sie sind in jeweils einem Zweig einer Wheatstone-Brückenschaltung angeordnet.
