[origin: EP0364776A2] A drawing device having a plate-shaped drawing base in the form of a drawing board (1) and a straightedge element in the form of a drawing rail (10) has a length-measuring device which has a sensing device (20), mounted on the drawing rail and having two magnetic-field sensors, and also a strip (7) which is provided on the drawing board (1), is made of a material alternately magnetised positively and negatively in the longitudinal direction and is adjacent to the sensing device (20). The two magnetic-field sensors of the sensing device (20) lie side-by-side in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the strip (7) and at the same distance from the bearing plane of the drawing rail (10).
