[origin: EP0365487A2] The workbench having a bearing construction held above the ground by support elements (4, 5) and devices for fastening table tops and/or structures in the form of fixedly or movably arranged resting surfaces contains a basic frame (1) made of one pair each of longitudinal (2) and transverse beams (3), which frame is designed as a construction unit. Attached to this construction unit are the support elements as individual table legs (4), which can be mounted detachably to the underside of the basic frame (1), or box bodies in the form of frames (5) of chests of drawers. Some of the ends of the longitudinal and/or transverse beams of the basic frame (1) are constructed as coupling or resting regions for structures built onto or on top of the workbench. <??>Due to the exchangeability of wing frames (7, 7'), which can be coupled to the basic frame (1), and bracket elements, the components of the workbench can be used according to the principle of a construction kit. <IMAGE>
