[origin: WO8900112A1] A wheel attachment, for giving increased support and traction, is an inflatable bag (9) of toroidal form. It is fitted co-axially to the wheel (1) and held there, when inflated, by a restraint (13, 29) bearing against the outer end and coupled to the wheel hub (3) by a tension member (11, 26) extending through, or forming part of, the central passage of the toroid. The tension member may be flexible or rigid, and it is attached to an anchorage (5) which may be permanently fitted to the wheel hub (3) using the existing studs. The inner end of the bag (9) may have an annular element (14) to locate against the wheel rim, but outside that there will be engagement between the bag and the side wall of the tyre (2). The bag may have a tread, or a treaded sleeve (30) may be supported by the bag being inflated within it.

Fixation de roue procurant un support et une traction augmentés, matérialisée par un sac gonflable (9) de forme toroïdale. Le sac gonflable est assemblé coaxialement à la roue (1) à laquelle, une fois gonflé, il est retenu par un système de retenue (13, 29) s'appuyant contre l'extrémité extérieure du moyeu (3) de la roue, auquel il est couplé par un élément de tension (11, 26) s'étendant dans le passage central du tore, ou en faisant partie de ce dernier. L'élément de tension peut être souple ou rigide, et est fixé à un point d'ancrage (5) pouvant être assemblé en permanence au moyeu (3) de la roue au moyen des boulons existants. L'extrémité intérieure du sac (9) peut être munie d'un élément annulaire (14) destiné à être serré contre la jante de la roue, à l'extérieur de laquelle le sac et la paroi latérale du pneu (2) entrent en contact. Le sac peut être muni d'un renforcement, ou un manchon de renforcement (30) peut être supporté par le sac, lequel est gonflé à l'intérieur dudit manchon.
