Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0367048A2] The printing forme comprises a semiconductor coating. In the latter, capacitive or inductive regions are produced by doping. Each of these regions is assigned an electronic switching element which can be activated selectively. With the switching element, the respective capacitive or inductive region can be charged or excited corresponding to the motif to be printed. In this state, ink, for example ferro fluid ink, can be fed to the forme cylinder via a corresponding inking device, which ink then adheres to the excited or charged regions. Discharging is possible by applying the control lines to earth or to opposite polarities. Charging and discharging can also be undertaken during operation. <IMAGE>
