Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0367102A2] Since such short-circuit indicators are triggered, particularly if they are connected to a circuit-breaker or motor protection switch, both in the case of a short-circuit and in the case of overcurrent, it is important to be able to detect the trigger type from the outside without having to open the switch. This is achieved in a simple construction, and with a high level of functions, in a particularly advantageous manner in that the reset button (5) of the short-circuit indicator (1) is connected to a switch-on slide element (9) which interacts via a shift lever (10) with a trigger locking slide element (11) which is displaceable parallel thereto, and which can be displaced in the trigger direction (12) of a triggering device (4) of the circuit-breaker or motor protection switch (1), and which is positively connected to this trigger device (4) in the triggering direction via a trigger pin (5). For test purposes, the trigger slide element (14) can be triggered purely mechanically by hand by means of a pointed object, such as a screw- driver or the like, through a test opening (24) in axial extension of the trigger element slide (14) on the front narrow side (6) of the switch housing (7), even without triggering a short-circuit and without the circuit-breaker or motor protection switch (2), to which the short-circuit indicator (1) is connected, being subjected to current. <IMAGE>
