Abstract (en)

A one-piece molded plastic closure (10) having a tamper-indicating band (18) connected to the closure skirt (12) by rupturable means. The tamper band uses series of solid interiorly projecting beads (20) that come in contact with a transfer bead (23) on the container (15) as the closure is unscrewed. The engagement of the beads (20a) and container (15) breaks the band (18) by rupture of the connection means. The beads in the band are arranged in tiers at three different heights on the band (20a, 20b, 20c). A thick cylindrical section at the bottom (34) of the band (18) assists initial capping. The beads are disposed in the band at an angle (P) equal to the pitch angle of the container threads (16). This eliminates need for top pressure in capping by the beads (20) following the container thread lowering and driving the beads over the container's transfer bead (23) locking the band (18) in place.
