Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0367845A1] The invention relates to a liquid ring pump with a pump impeller rotatably mounted in its pump casing. At at least one front end of this pump, a cam plate (5) is arranged between the pump casing (1) and a casing cover (6) provided in each case with a suction and pressure connection 7 and 8. The cam plate (5) in each case has at least one inlet and one outlet opening (13 and 14, 15 respectively), the inlet opening (13) being arranged at the cam plate (5) in the region of a suction space formed between the casing cover (6) and the cam plate (5) and connected to the suction connection (7) and the outlet opening (14, 15) being arranged at the cam plate (5) in the region of a pressure space (11) likewise formed between the casing cover (6) and the cam plate (5), connected to the pressure connection (8) and divided from the suction space (9) as regards pressure. Damping of the noises arising at the outlet opening (14, 15) is achieved by the fact that that part of the sealing liquid ejected together with the compressed gas is deflected on its way through the pressure space (11) to the pressure connection (8) in such a way that its direction of flow (arrow 21) at at least one point in the pressure space (11) runs transversely to the direction of flow (arrow 22) of the gas likewise flowing through the pressure space (11) towards the pressure connection (8) and the sealing liquid thus crosses the gas flow. <IMAGE>
