Abstract (en)
A suitcase with shells having a body (1) and a lid (2) is constructed in such a way that the hinge line (11) of the lid, by means of which the latter is linked to the body (1), lies in one broad side (3) of the body. By this means, it is possible to rest the suitcase on the other broad side with minimum space requirement when packing and unpacking the suitcase. Additionally, the body (1) can be manufactured as a self-bearing component using a minimum amount of material. <IMAGE>

Ein Schalenkoffer mit einem Körper (1) und einem Deckel (2) ist so ausgebildet, daß die Scharnierlinie (11) des Deckels, mit welcher dieser am Körper (1) angelenkt ist, in einer Breitseite (3) des Körpers liegt. Dadurch ist eine Kofferauflage auf der anderen Breitseite mit minimalem Platzbedarf beim Packen und Entpacken des Koffers möglich. Außerdem ist der Körper (1) als selbsttragendes Bauteil mit minimalem Materialeinsatz herstellbar.
