[origin: EP0367929A2] In a known arrangement, the frame rate of a television signal is doubled by using a field store. In a first operating mode, each field of the television signal is entered into the field store in this arrangement and read out twice at twice the frequency. In a second mode, only every second field is entered into the field store and read out four times at twice the frequency. The novel arrangement is intended to be used for switching in a simple manner between the two operating modes. For this purpose, the storage control circuit is supplied via the I<2>C bus of the television receiver with a control signal generated in the operating unit. As an alternative, an identification signal generated in the television transmitter, transmitted in the blanking intervals of the television signal and separated from the television signal in a separating circuit in the television receiver can also be used for switching.
