Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0367935A2] The invention is based on the object of developing a known location and navigation system for motor vehicles in such a manner that the vehicle driver is released from looking for the map sections. The object is achieved by virtue of the fact that in the mobile radio stations (M1, M2) location information corresponding to the approximate location of the mobile radio stations from the information exchanged between the mobile radio stations and the stationary radio stations (F1, F2), by means of which location information the map section relevant in each case is automatically selected. The drawing shows a block diagram of a cellular radio telephone network with stationary radio stations (F1, F2) and mobile radio stations (M1, M2). <IMAGE>
