[origin: EP0368824A2] In a pair of pliers having a fixed jaw carrier (13A) and a movable jaw carrier (13B), the latter is arranged on a pivotable connecting link (14) to which an arm (15), elastically flexible at least to a certain extent, is connected. The connecting link (14) is connected by means of a hinge pin (14A) to an elongated appliance body (11), the hinge pin (14A) passing through an opening in the connecting link (14) which is larger than the diameter of the hinge pin (14A), and is anchored at one end of a short fixed link (17), the second end of which is connected to the said arm (15). Accurate treatment of work objects whose sizes lie within a certain range is hereby made possible. <IMAGE>
