[origin: WO8909770A1] A pentaene macrolide composition, referred to as faeriefungin, and compounds contained therein is described. The composition is produced by Streptomyces griseus var. Autotrophicus var. nov. The composition is useful for inhibiting the growth of certain viruses, bacteria and fungi as well as nematodes and insects.
