An internal-combustion engine (1) having cylinders arranged individually or in series, having an injection apparatus (26) comprising an injection pump (27), preferably a high-pressure injection pump, and an injection nozzle (29), and having at least one rotating control element (3) per cylinder for the exhaust and refill operations, which is arranged between cylinder block (4) and cylinder cover (2) or in the latter with an axis (32) of rotation preferably lying perpendicular to the cylinder axis and, between two spigots (14a, 14b) extending along the axis of rotation, has a control element firmly connected to the spigots, and countersurfaces uniformly surrounding the control body and the spigots (14a, 14b) being provided in the cylinder head and each spigot (14a, 14b) being traversed by an axially extending gas channel (16, 17) which in each case merges into an elbow shaped gas channel which is arranged in the control body and emerges at the surface of the control body with an opening (18), means for transmitting a rotary movement from the crankshaft to the control element (3) being provided, the control body being designed as a body (15) having the shape of a sphere, in particular of a hollow sphere, and the injection nozzle (29) being mounted in the spherical body (15), is to be designed in such a way that, while a small and compact construction is guaranteed, the supply of the injection medium to the injection nozzle (29) is facilitated. Eine Brennkraftmaschine (1) mit innerer Verbrennung und mit einzeln bzw. in Reihe angeordneten Zylindern, mit einer eine Einspritzpumpe (27), vorzugsweise eine Hochdruck-Einspritzpumpe, und eine Einspritzdüse (29) umfassenden Einspritzvorrichtung (26) sowie mit mindestens einem rotierenden Steuerelement (3) je Zylinder für die Gasladungswechselvorgänge, das zwischen Zylinderblock (4) und Zylinderdeckel (2) oder in letzterem mit einer zur Zylinderachse, vorzugsweise senkrecht liegenden Rotationsachse (32), angeordnet ist und zwischen zwei sich rotationsaxial erstreckenden Zapfen (14a, 14b) einen mit den Zapfen in fester Verbindung stehenden Steuerkörper aufweist, wobei den Steuerkörper und die Zapfen (14a, 14b) gleichförmig umgebende Gegenflächen im Zylinderkopf vorgesehen sind und jeder Zapfen (14a, 14b) von einem sich axial erstreckenden Gaskanal (16, 17) durchsetzt ist, der jeweils in einen krümmerförmigen, im Steuerkörper angeordneten Gaskanal übergeht, der an der Oberfläche des Steuerkörpers mit einer Öffnung (18) austritt, wobei Mittel zur Übertragung einer Rotationsbewegung von der Kurbelwelle auf das Steuerelement (3) vorgesehen sind, der Steuerkörper als kugelförmiger, insbesondere als hohlkugelförmiger Körper (15) ausgebildet ist und die Einspritzdüse (29) im kugelförmigen Körper (15) gelagert ist, ist so auszugestalten, daß bei Gewährleistung einer kleinen und kompakten Bauweise die Zuführung des Einspritzmediums zur Einspritzdüse (29) erleichtert ist. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß auch die Einspritzpumpe (27, 327) im kugelförmigen Körper (15) des Kugeldrehschiebers (3) gelagert ist.
