[origin: EP0370226A1] A photographic silver halide material consisting of a base, at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer applied to the base, a hardening layer and, if appropriate, further light-sensitive and light-insensitive layers, wherein the hardening layer is applied as that of all the layers which is most remote from the base, is virtually gelatin-free and contains a hardener and a water-soluble thickener which virtually does not react with the hardener substance, shows a reduction in dirt pick-up.
