[origin: EP0370288A2] A socket (10) for the electrical connection of motor vehicle trailers has a socket housing (12) which is provided with an automatically closing lid (14). A contact carrier (40) which carries contacts (42) is received in the socket housing (12), the contacts (42) having a conductor connecting part (44) for connecting to an electrical conductor (45) and a sleeve part (46) for receiving contact pins of a plug. For the purpose of simpler manufacture and for cost-effective use both as parking socket or also as ready-assembled socket, it is proposed to provide a contact receiving part (20) integrally formed with the latter in the socket housing (12), into which contact receiving part at least the sleeve parts (46) of the contacts can be inserted on the floor-side, and in that the contact carrier (40) can be releasably connected to the contact receiving part (20). <IMAGE>
