[origin: EP0371948A1] The invention relates to the manufacture of nonwoven textiles by needle-punching, using a card (1) with comb (2), a web-spreader (6) which deposits the web of textile fibres, and one or more needling devices. <??>Means are provided by which the weight per unit area of the web supplied by the card (1) is constantly changed according to a periodic pattern by varying the speed of the exit comb (2), so as to achieve, at the exit of the superposition machine (6), a web wherein the weight per surface area varies over its width, so as to counteract the non- uniformities in the distribution of the weight per unit area caused by the needling devices or consolidation machinery. <IMAGE>
