Process and apparatus for adjusting a preselected cleaning width of a rotating cylindrical brush, which is rotatable about an axis, for cleaning surfaces such as roads, taxiways of airfields or the like, the distance between the axis from the rotating cylindrical brush and the surface to be cleaned being changed for the adjustment of the cleaning level, and, for the dimensioning of the desired distance, the cylinder diameter being detected by means of a sensor device and the distance of the axis from the surface to be cleaned being adjusted according to the cylinder diameter. <??>In addition to the determination of the cylinder diameter, it is envisaged to measure the actual distance between the axis and the surface to be cleaned. In the event of deviations of the desired distance from the actual distance, a readjustment of the distance of the axis to the desired distance is carried out, with the aid of a control circuit, in order to guarantee that a preselected cleaning width is maintained. <IMAGE>

Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Einstellung einer vorgewählten Kehrspiegelbreite (bsp) eines um eine Achse drehbaren Walzenbesens (14) zum Reinigen von Oberflächen (10), wie Straßen, Rollfelder von Flugplätzen oder dergleichen, wobei der Abstand (h) zwischen der Achse des Walzenbesens und der zu reinigenden Oberfläche (10) zur Einstellung des Kehrspiegels (bsp) verändert wird, und wobei zur Bemessung des Soll-Abstandes der Walzendurchmesser (2r) mittels einer Sensorrichtung (18) erfaßt wird und nach Maßgabe des Walzendurchmessers (2r) der Abstand (h) der Achse zu der zu reinigenden Oberfläche (10) eingestellt wird. Zusätzlich zur Ermittlung des Walzendurchmessers (2r) ist vorgesehen, den tatsächlichen Ist-Abstand zwischen der Achse und der zu reinigenden Oberfläche (10) zu messen. Mit Hilfe einer Regelschaltung wird bei Abweichungen des Soll-Abstandes von dem Ist-Abstand eine Nachregelung (16) des Abstandes der Achse (12) auf den gewünschten Soll-Abstand vorgenommen, um die Einhaltung einer vorgewählten Kehrspiegelbreite (bsp) zu gewährleisten.
