[origin: EP0372348A1] The packaging for sliced food with an essentially rectangular surface, in particular for sliced cheese, consists of a film (1) which is wrapped in the form of a flat tube around the food (9) to be packed and completely encloses the latter, the two longitudinally axial edge zones of the film overlapping and being interconnected by means of a heat-seal layer (4) on the film. The heat-seal layer (4) extends in a strip-like manner close and parallel to an edge (12) of the film and consists essentially of a heat-sealable olefin copolymer. The film is possibly printed outside the heat-seal layer. In a perferred embodiment, the packaging exterior has a coating (13) made of an organosilicon compound, preferably a polydialkylsiloxane. <IMAGE>
