Abstract (en)
[origin: WO8901794A1] A system for the measurement of a metabolite in a physiological fluid is disclosed which comprises a catheter (4) which includes an internal metabolite sensor (7) downstream from a semipermeable region (8) where dynamic equilibrium is attained between the external metabolite and a higher concentration of the same metabolite contained in an infusate which is flowed through the catheter (4). The changing metabolite concentration also can open and close a chemical valve (10) to control the co-delivery of a drug through the catheter (4).
