Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0374917A2] A signature conveyor comprises a first conveying means (64) which conveys signatures (40) in sequence to a delivery station (60). At the delivery station (60), the signatures (40) are transferred in sequence to a receiving conveying means (74). A shaping device (126) is positioned at the delivery station (60) in order to reinforce the signatures (40) by shapings (132) being formed in the signatures (40), which shapings extend between their front and their rear end parts (46, 48). Although the shapings (132) are only maintained in the signatures (40) temporarily, the shaping device (126) is mounted sufficiently near to the receiving conveying means (74) for a shaping (132) in a signature (40) to be able to be maintained while the front end part (46) of the signature (40) moves towards the receiving conveying means (74). Thus the shaping device (126) is situated at a distance from the receiving conveying means (74) which is less than the distance between the front and the rear end parts (46, 48) of the signatures (40). <IMAGE>
