[origin: WO9000097A1] A pipe crimping apparatus comprises holding means to externally engage and hold a joint formed by locating one end of a pipe connector onto a pipe end, the holding means having a crimping tool (18, 106, 124) movable relative to the swaged end to cause the swaged end to be deformed and crimped onto the pipe end. In a preferred embodiment, the holding means (12, 14) is elongate and at one end thereof has a gripping zone (16) to engage behind the inner side of a swaged end of the pipe connector, and at the other end thereof the crimping tool (18) is movable longitudinally and internally of the holding means. Means (20) are provided to cause axial movement of the tool (18) towards the gripping zone (16) so to engage the outer side of the swaged end and crimp it to the pipe end.

Un appareil de sertissage de tubes comprend un moyen de préhension destiné à engager par l'extérieur et à maintenir un assemblage formé en plaçant une extrémité d'un raccord de tubes sur une extrémité de tube, ledit moyen de préhension comportant un outil de sertissage (18, 106, 124) mobile par rapport à l'extrémité rétreinte à déformer et à sertir sur l'extrémité du tube. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, le moyen de préhension (12, 14) est allongé et comporte en une de ses extrémité une zone de serrage (16) à engager dernière le côté intérieur de l'extrémité rétreinte du raccord de tube, et en son autre extrémité l'outil de serrage (18) est mobile longitudinalement et à l'intérieur du moyen de préhension. On a prévu des moyens (20) pour provoquer le mouvement axial de l'outil (18) vers la zone de serrage (16) de manière à engager le côté extérieur de l'extrémité rétreinte et à le sertir sur l'extrémité du tube.
