[origin: EP0376011A2] A housing for a scrap-shredding apparatus is described. The housing contains an inlet opening (6) provided with at least one assigned anvil (7), an outlet opening (9) leading to an outlet (10), a floor (11) arranged essentially below the rotor (1) and extending from the inlet opening (6) to the outlet opening (9), a top cover (17) arranged essentially above the rotor (1), extended from the outlet opening (9) to the inlet opening (6) and delimiting a return chamber (16) and a separating device which is arranged in the outlet opening (9) and has a screening wall (12) with a multiplicity of channels and a swivellable flap (24), arranged in the direction of rotation of the rotor (1) behind said wall and having a separating edge (22) which in at least one operating position of the flap (24) predominantly feeds sufficiently shredded scrap pieces to the outlet and predominantly feeds insufficiently shredded scrap pieces to the return chamber (16). The flap (24) is additionally swivellable into an open position in which insufficiently shredded scrap pieces are also fed to the outlet (10). <IMAGE>
