[origin: US4964342A] A propulsion mechanism or sabot for a subcaliber projectile, in which the mechanism is constructed segmented, and which includes a carrier component defining a form-fitted zone between itself and the projectile, a front part which is connected with the carrier component which is constructed with an air pocket, a rearward positioning or adjusting part defining the projectile caliber which is connected to the carrier component, and an outer part which is arranged intermediate the front part and the rearward positioning part.

Es wird ein Treibspiegel (10) für ein unterkalibriges Geschoss (12) beschrieben, der zum Abtrennen vom Geschoss (12) segmentiert ausgebildet ist. Der Treibspiegel (10) weist ein zwischen sich und dem Geschoss eine Formschlusszone (16) festlegendes Trägerteil (14), ein mit einer Lufttasche (38) ausgebildetes Vorderteil (30), ein rückseitiges Festlegeteil (18) und ein zwischen dem Vorderteil (30) und dem Festlegeteil (18) vorgesehenes Aussenteil (42) auf. Zur Ausbildung eines sog. ziehenden Treibspiegels weist das Trägerteil (14) im Verhältnis zum Vorderteil (30) ein kleines Gewicht auf, und weist das Festlegeteil (18) im Verhältnis zum Vorderteil (30) bzw. Festlegeteil (18) ein kleines Gewicht auf und es besteht aus einem dämpfenden Material.
